Hi all! It's Dr. Ralph again!
I'm going to share with you an event that many thought would be my 'last adventure'!
I was at work in the emergency room on the night shift. It ended at 7am. Precisely at 7am, I suffered an event that would alter my sense of life as I know it. I'm exposed to life ending events all of the time, almost daily as an emergency physician. However, this day was different, it was me!

The doc that was relieving me entered into the docs area and began speaking to me. I could not respond! I could hear everything and understood everything but could not move or respond at all! The doc said "he's not responding", the charge nurse immediately rolled my chair over to room #1. The entire staff was involved. They started cutting off my scrubs and began wheeling me down to the CT scanner. Most of the staff thought that I was suffering from a stroke. My significant other was working at a different facility in the ER. They contacted her and she literally flew to the ER I was at. On arrival, she was talking with the doc that was taking over for me, and who was overseeing my care at that time. "CODE BLUE ICU", was announced over the PA system! My significant other and the doc knew ti was on me! Our facility is a small suburban hospital with very few resources. The doc could omlt repsond with "just get him out of here", out of our facility to a higher level of care. I knew most of the paramedics in our area, and because they knew it was me, they were there almost instantaneously. As soon as I arrived at the higher level of care hospital, I was immediately intubated, put on life support. They discussed with my significant other the use of a clot busting medicine that goes by the acronym TPA or Activase. Fortunately, they collectively decided not to employ the use of that medicine. Instead they put me through a battery of tests, including MRI/MRA of the brain, carotid ultrasounds and others. They found no relative acute pathology. They ended up suggesting that it was a condition called Status Epilepticus. It's kind of a dangerous seizure condition. I was released with some medication know as Keppra.
Ultimately, my neurologist felt I was working too hard and needed to cut back and enjoy life more. He was right! As a consequence of that experience I am going to do just that! I will develop programs that will allow one to experience the best adventures that this planet has to offer!!! I have a list of adventures that are already planned and some that are in process! I also have a website that you can click on to see the necessary equipment, vaccinations, territorial concerns whether it be lions, tigers or bears, or just snakes, insects etc.! All items that are necessary are available to you for purchase from one convenient location.
😉!! More Memories to come!
